1. China-Russia trade situation
With the changes in the international environment, Chinese elevator manufacturers have also ushered in a strategic opportunity to reshape the elevator supply chain in the Russian market. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China, from January to November 2023, the total trade volume between China and Russia reached US$218.176 billion, an increase of 26.7%, breaking through US$200 billion for the first time in history. The goal set by the leaders of China and Russia to reach a trade volume of US$200 billion in 2024 has been achieved.
2. Russian elevator market
From January to November 2023, China exported a total of 76,714 passenger elevators, with a total value of about 11.3 billion. Among them, Russia was far ahead with 5,411 units, followed by Kazakhstan with 4,305 units and Indonesia with 3,496 units, ranking the top three respectively.
From January to November 2023, China exported a total of 12,245 escalators and walkways, with a total value of about 2.8 billion. Among them, South Korea 1,159 units, India 952 units, Thailand 535 units, Russia 491 units, and Indonesia 489 units, ranking the top five respectively.
In 2021, Russia's elevator production was 31,200 units, of which 14,700 were produced by elevator factories in Moscow. At present, there are 5-6 large manufacturers in Russia operating more than 1,000 installation companies, so the current Russian elevator market still relies on imports and domestic manufacturing capacity is insufficient.
One of Russia's national goals is to improve the housing conditions of at least 5 million families each year, which requires the construction of 120 million square meters of housing, which is new apartment buildings, that is, new elevators. At the same time, there are potential for about 160,000 elevators to be replaced, which is expected to reach 200,000 in 2024 and 250,000 in 2030.
